Student Honor Court

The Student Honor Court hearings involve an investigation into the alleged incident to determine the appropriate conduct charges. If he/she enters a plea of guilty, the Chancellor sets the date of a summary hearing held before the Chancellor and two Student Honor Court Justices to determine the sanction. If he/she enters a plea of not guilty, the Chancellor sets the date of a pre-hearing conference and a formal hearing.

If the student has requested a jury trial, a six-person jury is selected at random from a panel of students from all colleges. The jury decides the guilt or innocence of the accused. If the student is found responsible, the Chancellor and two justices determine the sanction. The Student Honor Court makes recommendations of responsibility and sanctions to the Dean of Students who reviews the findings for final action by the University. In all cases the Court may recommend any and all of the sanctions listed in Section XIV of the Student Code of Conduct.
