Pride Awareness Month in Full Swing

Our month-long celebration of LGBTQ identities — Pride Awareness Month (PAM) — is in full swing, with events through next Tuesday night. A full calendar of past and future events can be found on PAM's website, ufpam.org, however here are snippets about the remaining activities:

Wednesday, April 16th, 8-10pm, Orange and Brew: Perhaps you heard them on The L Word or downloaded their newest album “Stand Up.” Tonight, out hip-Hop/R&B duo God-des and She will rock the Orange and Brew with their socially conscious and inspired music.

Thursday, April 17th, 7-9pm, Reitz Union Grand Ballroom: With warmth and enthusiasm, writer and photographer Loren Cameron will present a multimedia account of his own and others' experiences of being transgendered. His iconic work has been studied and celebrated at universities, educational conferences, and art institutes since 1994, and we're honored to bring him to our campus.

Friday, April 18th, 1-4pm, Graham Gallery: The last Friends I LGBTQ Ally Training of the semester will bring a final opportunity for members of the University of Florida community to expand their knowledge and understanding surrounding lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer issues, and to develop skills for confronting prejudice and acting as an LGBTQ ally. To sign up for a training, please visit lgbt.ufl.edu.

Monday, April 21st, 6-8pm, Ustler Hall: Come honor the achievements of LGBTQ and allied graduating students in the Lavender Graduation ceremony complementary to regular commencement activities on campus. All members of the LGBTQA community are invited to attend -- to mark their own milestones, to support and commend their friends, or to learn more about the accomplishments of LGBTQA students across campus. Our program begins at 6pm; with reception will follow. Please visit lgbt.ufl.edu/grad.php for more information or to register as a graduating student.

Tuesday, April 22nd, 7-9pm, Reitz Union Grand Ballroom: Shake It Up, Act Out! After shaking up the month of April, shake it out on the dance floor during PAM's closing event.
