2008-09 Common Reading Program: Faculty Resources

Faculty members who teach first-year students are strongly encouraged to utilize the book in their classes. You may consider using the book for class discussions, essay topics, research projects, class presentations, etc. We strongly encourage faculty members who teach first-year students to utilize the Common Reading Program book in class. We suggest using the book in class discussions, essay topics, research projects, class presentations, etc. Three discussion guides have been designed by the Common Reading Program committee to help you implement the book in your classrooms.

The first is the Navigating the Swamp Guide that has a listing of general/broad questions about the book. This guide will be primarily used at Navigating the Swamp on August 22, 2008. The second guide is a list of questions by discipline. The third guide is designed to connect with the First-Year Florida curriculum. Please remember that these guides are a starting point as we hope you will also develop additional questions that are related specifically to the classes you teach.
