What is First-Year Florida?
First-Year Florida is the first-year student's guide to academic success at the University of Florida. This one-credit, one-hour per week course is packed with the tips, tricks, and tactics necessary for survival on this large, diverse campus. Class discussions and projects focus on student skills, social diversity, career decisions, and financial management. The course also familiarizes students with the abundant resources and services available at UF, including over 400 campus organizations. Each section of First-Year Florida is twenty-five students or less, thus allowing new students to get the attention they deserve. A university professional and an undergraduate peer leader team up in this personal setting to help students develop the practical, social, emotional, and intellectual skills that are essential to a fulfilling four years at UF. First-Year Florida allows freshmen a more complete (and fun!) first-year experience.

Get the details about invaluable resources, such as the library system or
the Career Resource Center. Too often, it takes students years to become acquainted
with the services and offices designed to help them. Taking this one-hour
course will save countless hours later on.
Faculty and Staff

feel lost in large lecture courses; FYF will help personalize your college
classroom experience.
Undergraduate Peer Leaders
Get support from another student who has been there, done that, and accomplished
something great in the process. Students tell the story of the university
best. First-Year Florida connects new students with a successful undergraduate
