Welcome to the Gator Nation! As your student becomes a Gator, you too are becoming vital part of the Gator Community. At the University of Florida, we strongly believe that family members provide crucial support for the new experiences your student will encounter during college. The beginning of a college career often brings changes in relationships with family and friends. Welcoming, understanding, and adjusting to these changes is an exciting challenge for all involved. The Office of New Student Programs exists to help new students and their families with this transition and growth.
Attending Preview marks the beginning of your relationship with UF. As your child attends his or her Orientation session, you are strongly encouraged to attend our Family Preview Session. Again, offering the Family Preview session concurrently with New Student Preview allows us to communicate the valuable services offered to and your student at UF. Moreover, this is an opportunity for you to ask questions, interact with university personnel, and meet one another. We hope you will find Family Preview a helpful and personal glimpse into the university community.
As the picture above demonstrates, we also invite you to participate in Family Weekend, an event offered each fall to reconnect you with the university post-Family Preview. This is a fun weekend filled with opportunities for you to further your understanding of UF, visit your student, and attend a wide variety of workshops.
