New Student Programs

Lodging

Summer B and fall first-year students are required to stay in the residence hall - Broward Hall - during Preview (maximum two nights). Students will be assigned a roommate for the night different from the roommate for first year housing. Nightime programming will be provided. Students traveling long distances may opt to stay in Broward Hall the night prior to the start of Preview for a nominal fee. This will be a great opportunity for new students to connect with other new students and spend time learning about campus life.

Students should plan on packing an alarm clock and comfortable clothes for their stay. Some students opt to bring their own blanket or pillow with them, however, blankets, pillows and towel will be provided. It is also a good idea to pack comfortable shoes, an umbrella (summer weather can be unpredicatable), and bring some extra money for food and snacks.

Due to limited space, family members and guests of freshmen are unable to stay in Broward Hall. The Reitz Union Hotel on campus offers convenient and affordable accommodations. Space is limited, so please call early for a reservation at 352-392-2151. A listing of additional accommodations in Gainesville can be found at www.visitgainesville.net.
