There are a variety of events to choose from during Family Weekend. Listed below is the program's complete events schedule. We recognize that Family Weekend does fall during Shabbat and have provided information about Shabbat services taking place in Gainesville in our complete schedule. As planning for Family Weekend continues, more details and additional events will be added to this list.

Friday, October 2nd

5:00pm-9:30pm Family Weekend Check-in: Pick up registration materials, and schedule for the weekend. Please note family weekend participants will need to pick up their registration materials prior to attending any of the Family Weekend Programs.

7:00pm UF Women's Volleyball v. Kentucky: Cheer on the UF Women’s Volleyball team as they take on Kentucky. Go green and make sure to pick up your free reusable grocery bag. Family members who pre-registered for this event will receive a coupon at Check-In that can be presented at the ticket office for 2 for 1 ticket admission to this Gator sporting event.

Stephen C. O'Connell Center

7:00pm-9:00pm Friday Family Fun Night and Dessert Reception (featuring Hypnotist Chuck Miligan): What better way to kick off the weekend then with some delicious dessert and a great night of entertainment with hypnotist Chuck Miligan. Please Note: tickets to this event must be purchased in advance.

7:30pm Shabbat Services and Dinner: Friday Night Live - Shabbat on Fifth Ave!

9:00am-9:45am Morning Welcome & Keynote: Hear from the UF administration about the vision for UF and the exciting opportunities that brings for your first year students. Reitz Union Grand Ballroom
9:00am-2:00pm Gainesville Solar Tour: The University of Florida Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society and the nonprofit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) are bringing together more than 5,000 homes, schools and businesses “ in Gainesville and across the U.S. “- to introduce students and neighbors to solar energy. Join us October 3rd at the Plaza of the Americas at the University of Florida to network with local solar installers, other sustainability professional and student groups. Plaza of the Americas
9:00am-6:00pm Inside Out Art Exhibit: The images in this exhibit explore elements of nostalgia and death through a combination of etchings, drawings, mixed media and installation pieces. The elements of the show will draw the viewer in and create a sense of disconnect from what is familiar and what cannot be obtained. Many pieces in the show are focused on elements of nature that stem from memories of the artists. Through this exhibit the artists hope to provide the viewer with a different point of view on the examination of one's nostalgic pastimes and death. Reitz Union, 2nd Floor Art Gallery

The exhibit Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and other Riches journeys through the Amazon River Basin and explores the unique conditions of this incredible environment. Set sail on an interactive voyage that describes the seven greatest perils of life on the Amazon.

7:30pm-9:30pm Family Weekend Kickball Tournament (Event is full, and registration is now closed): Pre-registered Family Weekend participants will have the opportunity to compete for the title of 2009 Family Weekend Kickball Champion. This single-night tournament is sure to be fun for all ages and abilities. Don't worry if you didn't pre-register; you can still come out to cheer on your favorite team! 6:00pm-10:00pm Historic Downtown Gainesville Dine-Around: Take the family out for a night on the town and experience the unique restaurants that Gainesville has to offer! Sunday, October 4th

8:00am- 11:00am Mock Gator Walk Send-Off: Join us for a Mock Gator Walk experience, during which you and your family will get a tour of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, home to the 2009 NCAA Football National Champions. Following the tour of the stadium you will get to experience an exclusive tour of the Bill Heavener Complex, also known as the Gateway of Champions, where the NCAA National Champion trophies are housed. This building is a true representation of our Gator Pride and a noted environmentally friendly building serving our Gators both on and off the field! 10:00am-5:00pm 25th Art Festival at Thornebrook Village: Art enriches our lives - 140 fine artists and fine crafts person offering works in paintings, mixed media, photography, ceramics, glass, fiber, jewelry, metal, sculpture and wood. Musical groups play folk, jazz, blues, county, classical and harp. Kids fun time activities and tasty foods. Thornebrook Village, Gainesville, FL
1:30pm UF Women's Volleyball v. Tennessee: Cheer on the UF Women’s Volleyball team as they take on Tennessee. During this event high school volleyball players and high school aged students can come listen to the University Athletic Association Staff talk about the life of a Gator Student-Athlete. Hear from Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition staff and Office of Student Life and Head Coach Mary Wise. Younger siblings can enjoy the Kids Corner, with face painting, poster station, coloring and Magic Mike! 6:30pm-10:00pm Filipino-American History Month Opening Ceremony: The Opening Ceremony starts off a month-long event that celebrates and helps raise awareness about Filipino and Fil-Am culture through musical and dance performances as well as kick off our Ate/Kuya/Ading week. 7:00pm-10:00pm Soulfest: Celebrating 10 years of diversity and excellence, Soulfest, UF Homecoming's multicultural extravaganza, highlights the variety of cultures and unique backgrounds contained deep within the soul of the Gator Nation. The event will kick-off with an organizational fair taking place on the Reitz Union Colonnade. A talent showcase of cultural and artistic diversity will proceed at the Reitz Union Amphitheatre where UF student organizations will compete for the best in show. Events in Orange and Blue are coordinated through New Student Programs and funded by your registration fees. Please note the events in Orange are part of the General Family Weekend Package cost. The events in Blue are not included in the cost of the General Family Weekend package and are an additional cost. These events may be added on to your General Family Weekend Package during registration. All other events may require your Family Weekend All Access Pass which you will receive at check in. Ticketed events and those that cost additional monies are noted.
