Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution

Holds

Holds and/or Transcript Overlays may be placed on a student's record for the following reasons:

Failure to schedule or attend an informational meeting

Once an incident is reported and reviewed by Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, an email notification will be sent informing the student of the alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code or Student Honor Code. The student has ten (10) business days from the date of the email to schedule an informational meeting to learn about his/her rights and responsibilities, review the contents of the file, and to choose to accept or not to accept responsibility for violating the Student Conduct Code. Failure to schedule and/or attend the scheduled meeting can result in transcript and future registration holds being placed on the student's record until he/she attends the meeting. If the student has applied to graduate in that semester, a diploma and degree certification hold will be placed on the record until the matter is resolved. Should the student need access to his/her transcript during this time, a transcript overlay will be placed stating that the student is not in good standing with the university.

Failure to complete sanctions by an assigned deadline

After a student is found responsible for the alleged violations of the Student Conduct Code or Student Honor Code and is assigned sanctions, failure to complete the sanctions by the deadline will result in transcript and future registration holds. If the student has applied to graduate in the semester the sanctions are due, diploma and degree certification holds will be placed on the record until all sanctions are complete. Should the student need access to his/her transcript during this time, a transcript overlay will be placed stating that the student is not in good standing with the university.

Interim Suspension

If a student has been placed on interim suspension and has a pending investigation and hearing, a registration hold will be placed on the record as well as a transcript overlay stating that the student is not in good standing with the university.

Suspension

When a student is suspended from the university as a result of being responsible for a violation of the Student Conduct Code or Student Honor Code, a registration hold is placed on the student's record which prevents advanced registration until the student has completed all sanctions and has met with a hearing officer in Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution during the last month of the suspension. A transcript overlay will be placed stating that the student is not in good standing with the university.

Expulsion

If a student is expelled from the university, a permanent registration hold will be placed on the student's record as well as a permanent overlay on the student's transcript.
