The Institute of Black Culture (IBC), established in 1971, enhances the UF college experience and serves as a vehicle to share the cultures of the African Diaspora and enhance the University’s social and cultural environment. The IBC presents educational awareness and programs on issues related to Black Culture. The Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures welcomes you to the University of Florida! The Institute, also referred to as “La Casita,” has become a place where students, faculty, staff and community can join together to celebrate and learn more about the rich heritage and diversity of the Hispanic-Latino community. La Casita sponsors a variety of social, cultural, and educational programs and events throughout the year. Known as a “home away from home,” the Institute also serves as a central station for all Hispanic/Latino based student organizations. Established in 1994 as a result of student initiatives, the Institute is the first of its kind in the Southeastern United States. The Office of Academic Support and Institutional Services (OASIS) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is responsible for coordinating all minority activities within the College. OASIS is compromised of three divisions: Minority Recruitment and Retention Services (MRRS), the Student Enrichment Services Program (SERP), and the Upward Bound Program (UB). Through the combined efforts of its staff, OASIS provides academic advisement, tutoring and counseling assistance to specifically admitted students as well as all other undergraduate minorities. OASIS is also responsible for minority recruitment, monitoring students’ academic progress, conducting evaluation activities, and being a repository for data compiled and analyzed. - PAACT http://web.oasis.ufl.edu/
Pledging To Achieve Academic Competence Together (PAACT) is designed to produce a more psychologically, socially, politically, and morally sound group within the student population. The goal for a higher standard of studentship is attained through an effective week-long program of orientation to the new university environment and through continual career-long follow-up support services. The Office of the Associate Provost for Faculty Development reports to and assists the Provost on a broad range of concerns. Its staff partners with each of UF's colleges, centers, departments and other units to provide support for faculty excellence in research, service and teaching.

The University Minority Mentor Program (UMMP) was initiated in the fall of 1986. It was designed to address the issue of retention of African-American students at the University of Florida. The program was initially piloted in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The UMMP seeks to improve the retention rates of African-American and Hispanic first-year students by personalizing their experiences in the first year. The UMMP is designed to provide a supportive and nurturing experience for the personal and intellectual development of the first-year African American and Hispanic students. To facilitate this process each mentee is paired with both professional mentors (faculty) and a peer mentor (upper division student). Asian Student Union (ASU) is an umbrella organization that encompasses seven student organizations; including the Chinese American Student Association (CASA), Filipino Student Association (FSA), Korean Undergraduate Student Association (KUSA), Vietnamese Student Organization (VSO), Health Educated Asian Leaders (HEAL), Thai Student Association (TSA), and Khmer Student Organization (KSO). - BSU

The mission of BSU is to provide a network for students to impact campus and community life. The Gator Gay-Straight Alliance sprang into being in the fall of 2000. The Alliance’s purpose is to end homophobia (and indeed all forms of discrimination). The Alliance is ‘outward-directed’; that is, the efforts are not for the members but for the community in which we all live. Events fall into three main categories: Fundraising; Visibility, Publicity and Awareness; and Community Outreach and Involvement. - HSA
The Hispanic Student Association (HSA) was founded in 1985 in response to the growing Hispanic enrollment at UF. Since its foundation, membership has grown to over 800 members, making it the largest minority organization at UF. It actively advocates Hispanic participation in collegiate activities and programs, interaction with faculty and staff, and serves as the “voice” of the Hispanic students in an effort to raise Hispanic awareness at the University of Florida. - PSU http://grove.ufl.edu/~pride/
Pride Student Union (PSU) is a social, educational, and support organization for Gainesville’s student community and welcomes all lifestyles: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgendered, straight, and questioning. Volunteers for International Student Affairs (VISA) is an organization of American and International students who are involved in promoting the awareness of international diversity at the University of Florida. Over the years, VISA has served to organize the many international voices present here in an effort to familiarize the University of Florida with the global diversity that exists beyond the campus boundaries. VISA has 32 nationality clubs in its umbrella with more than 4000 members. The exceptional blend of different cultures gives VISA a unique outlook.
