The Matthews Society
The Matthews Society is a group of elite student leaders who through the Dean of Students Office have pledged to continue their service to our community. While membership to the Society is closed and recruited through nominations only, you can use the services that they provide for you.

Who is The Matthews Society?
The Society members are leaders varying from the Student Government President, some of the best student researchers on campus, some of the best student community service leaders on campus, some of the best academic students who also show exemplary leadership, etc. The members are Reitz Scholars, Cicerones, Student Government Senators, Campus Diplomats, SIFE members, Service Ambassadors, Honors Ambassadors, Greek Fraternity and Sorority members, Student Honor Court members, J. Wayne Reitz Union Board of Managers members, etc. These highly involved students have been selected from UF Faculty and Staff to fulfill the role of mentors and speakers to the UF community.

How can The Matthews Society help me?
The Society offers a Speakers Bureau where student organizations and groups can request a Society
member to speak about a particular topic. Society members can speak on range of topics at various events (conferences, organizational meetings, kick-off events, etc.). Request forms are available online.

Be a part of The Matthews Society
The Dean of Students Office is seeking nominations from faculty and staff of one student who you believe to embody the spirit of D.R. Billy Matthews. Matthews Society members could be upper class or graduate or doctoral level students with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA as well as exceptional leadership experiences at the University of Florida. A successful candidate will display ethical decision making as well as a passion to give back to the UF community.
